Katy Trail 130mile ride......

So this is the re-Cap from the Katy trail ride. My buddy, John Lynch and I rode the Katy Trail from St. Charles Missouri, to Jefferson City. This was a 130mile one day bike ride.

It started off easy enough, perfect day and the body felt good. Though a couple good efforts early in the day, would come back to really hurt in the final few miles. From about mile 80 on, everything started to hurt......Your hands go numb from the vibration, my body started to reject calories, and your back hurts from sitting in the same position for 6hours.......It then became, "get through 10 more miles, ok, now another 10"....and so on......

It was one of the hardest athletic things I've done, right up there with qualifying for the Boston Marathon and Ironman Florida........Glad I did it, glad it was over when it was, now next year it's the entire Katy trail on one day--220miles, KC to the ST.L.

Weekend of Cycling!!

This last weekend was filled with lots of tough physical activity and cycling......It all started with a bike trip on the Katy trail (130miles) to Jeff City (more on that coming Thurs.), was followed up by a 1/2 Marathon Sunday morning and VIP treatment for the final stage of the Tour of Missouri Sunday afternoon, where the worlds best cyclist, including many Tour De France riders, completed a 600mile race across the State of Missouri..............

Sunday Morning was the Lewis & Clark 1/2 Marathon.....It also just happened to be right in the middle of Hurricane IKE--5 inches of rain in just a couple hours and I ran right through it all.....Lots of fun, very, very wet & windy!!

At the race we were treated like stars in the VIP tent right at the finish line....Following the race we caught many of the racers heading back to their team bus's--These are the "Stars" of cycling and all of them were very gracious and friendly......
